A newly-discovered fossilized four-legged snake has been found, with palaeobiologists claiming it could be the missing link between ancient snakes and modern-day lizards.
The 113-million-year-old specimen has four perfectly preserved limbs that were too small for walking but just the right size for grabbing prey. Its Latin name, Tetrapodophis amplexus, loosely translates as “four-legged hugging snake”.
